What You’ll Do as a Shared Living Provider: - Serve as the primary caregiver, empowering individuals to achieve independence in areas such as education, employment, community access, and independent living skills.
- Enjoy a flexible schedule that could allow you to work from home or manage another job, making this a great opportunity for those with varying schedules.
- Receive competitive compensation , with a stipend paid twice per month in addition to adjusted rate room and board payments.

Requirements to Become a Shared Living Provider: - Reside in Maine and have a spare bedroom in a comfortable well-maintained home.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with current auto insurance.
- Willingness to complete required training and maintain compliance with regulations.
- Current home insurance!
Frequently Asked Questions: - Do I have to own my home to participate? No! As long as you meet the eligibility criteria, ownership isn’t required.
- Who decides the placement? The placement decision is made collaboratively between you and the individual to ensure a perfect match.
- Can I work another job while being a provider? Yes! Many Shared Living Providers successfully manage other jobs, and we tailor the intake process to accommodate your availability.
- Can I become a provider for my adult child? Absolutely! Family involvement is encouraged in many cases.
Compensation: - Independent contractors are paid a daily rate of $115 plus paid room and board.
What We’re Looking For: - A positive attitude, flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to supporting individuality and personal growth.
- Must be able to complete required paperwork and certifications (including DSP, CPR/First Aid), with all training covered or reimbursed.
- A home with two clear exits and a spare bedroom (minimum 8' x 10').
- Ability to pass background checks for everyone over the age of 18 who resides in the home.
