JOB TITLE: Account Manager – Service

Overall Scope

The primary responsibility of the Service Manager for our Electrical Commercial Special Project Division will be to plan, lead, and manage activities related to the identification, pursuit, and capture of commercial sales opportunities. The qualified candidate will have demonstrated skills in business development and business capture within the commercial electrical or industrial electrical industry.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create positive working relationships and maintain regular contact with assigned accounts and potential clients.
  • Build partnering relationships with owners and owner’s representatives responsible for making decisions regarding building maintenance and repair work.
  • Develop and execute business plans for defined targets. Include methods, contact personnel, and short and long-term goals for contract, quoted and T&M work. Ensure consistency with Walker’s overall business plan and market strategy.
  • Identify customer’s operational and environmental objectives, needs and requirements. Actively listen, probe, and identify concerns. Clarify Walker’s capabilities and expertise and provide strategic technical solutions.
  • Position renewable service agreements as a valuable and cost-effective partnership whenever feasible.
  • Create competitive, high-quality, and timely estimates and proposals. Negotiate value, address resistance and ‘close’ the sale.
  • Assist with creating and making marketing presentations that showcase Walker’s character, resources, and capabilities.
  • Seek in-house technical advice and support whenever necessary. Ensure each proposal satisfies the customer’s scope of service.
  • Maintain positive relations with Service Operations personnel. Thoroughly identify/clarify customer’s scope of service prior to the start of each new maintenance contract.
  • Track renewal dates on maintenance contracts.
  • become a successful project manager.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Travel Requirements : 0 - 25% (may vary significantly among individuals in this position)

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Four-year degree in relevant field, with strong emphasis on business and marketing OR an equivalent amount of technical training and practical experience in electrical contracting or service
  • Minimum 5 years construction-related experience, with 3 years’ experience in a marketing and/or estimating position relevant to electrical contracting
  • Outstanding team building and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Must possess the desire and capabilities to effectively make “cold calls”

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position will supervise and support our lead techs, job runners, etc. from the office (coordination, logistics, material management, etc.) and with frequent jobsite visits to insure we are staying productive and meeting the client’s needs.

  • To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily
  • To stretch out, extend, or put forth a bodily part. To touch or grasp something, by extending or stretching. To touch, lift, hold or operate with the hands up to 50 times daily.
  • To perceive or comprehend by the sense of sight.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position; days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Education and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • A degree in Construction Management or Project Management or equivalent experience.
