Position Name: Psychiatrist.
Position Location: Battle Creek VA Medical Center, MI (on-site only).
Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Qualifications:
Must have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
Must be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency (or willing to obtain).
Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
Duties:
Provide Psychiatry care and includes: Physical Assessment, Psychiatric Evaluations and Mental Status Exams, Psychotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, Consultation, Clinical Supervision, General Medical Condition Care, Group Psychotherapy, Behavior Therapy, Family Therapy, Treatment Team meetings, Discharge Planning, referring patients to specialty care, histories and physicals, order prescriptions, labs, x-rays, and other pertinent tests, completes documentation requirements in a timely manner as per policy, completion of consults on other inpatient locations at the facility, and occasionally evaluates outpatients for medication.
Contracted psychiatrists shall have an active and valid DEA license and shall have the ability to prescribe Buprenorphine and Clozapine.
Provide inpatient/outpatient, Urgent Care, APOD, psychiatric services to new (to the VA system) and established patients. In general, the inpatient care includes acute, rehabilitative and long-term treatment as well as comprehensive psychiatric services to eligible Veterans and outpatient care diagnosis mental disorders, medication evaluation and management, conducts psychiatric assessments, treats mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provides adjunctive intervention for treatment of medical disorders.
