About Us

Cinnamon is a forward-thinking healthcare technology company dedicated to improving patient advocacy through secure, cloud-native solutions. We automate critical workflows that help patient advocates secure financial assistance for medical expenses efficiently and securely. Our mission is to expand healthcare accessibility while ensuring the highest standards of security, compliance, and interoperability with leading EHR systems and exchanges.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Cloud Services Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, cloud-native APIs and backend services on GCP. This role focuses on service and API development—not ETL or data pipeline work. The ideal candidate has professional experience developing and owning production services, is comfortable working in Golang (preferred) or another strongly typed language, and has hands-on experience deploying to GCP. You’ll play a key role in building scalable, compliant infrastructure that connects with healthcare platforms such as Epic, Meditech, and other data exchange systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy secure, cloud-native APIs and backend services on GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage).
  • Develop and maintain backend systems in Golang (preferred) or another strongly typed language such as C# or Rust .
  • Build integrations between internal services and external healthcare systems, using industry standards like FHIR and HL7 , with secure communication ( VPNs, TLS, VPC ) and robust authentication mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0 , OpenID Connect , and mutual TLS (mTLS) .
  • Implement and maintain data persistence layers in PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Apply secure development practices, including IAM role restrictions, secrets management, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Collaborate with product, implementation, and data teams to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable cloud services.
  • Contribute to containerization and deployment workflows using Docker and GCP-native CI/CD tools.
  • Ensure services meet compliance and security standards such as HIPAA , SOC 2 , and HITRUST .

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and owning production-grade APIs and backend services .
  • 6+ months of professional experience deploying containerized services or serverless functions in GCP , AWS , or Azure , leveraging cloud-native offerings such as Pub/Sub and Cloud Storage.
  • 6+ months of hands-on experience with Go (Golang) , or 4+ years of professional experience with a strongly typed, non–JavaScript language (e.g., C#, Rust).
  • 6+ months of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL , or 2+ years of experience with any modern relational database (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Docker and cloud deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of secure networking and API security best practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards ( FHIR , HL7 , X12).
  • Experience integrating with EHR systems ( Epic , Meditech , Cerner ) or payer exchanges.
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare preferred) and understanding of compliance frameworks such as HIPAA or HITRUST .
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools in GCP (Cloud Logging, Monitoring, Trace).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • The chance to make a direct impact on healthcare accessibility and patient advocacy.

How to Apply

Send your resume and a brief cover letter describing your relevant experience to recruiting@cinnamon.health . We look forward to reviewing your application and exploring how you can help us advance healthcare through secure and innovative technology solutions.
