What is the Opportunity?

Higher Education & Nonprofit Analysts/Associates provide analytical, research and transactional support to investment bankers in all departmental work activities relating to the structuring and issuance of municipal bonds through negotiated, competitive sale or via private placement, as well as strategic assignments related to mergers and acquisitions, asset monetizations, and real estate transactions. The Higher Education & Nonprofit Finance practice is known for its innovative approach to financing, including advising institutions on infrastructure monetization, M&A, and public private partnerships as well as a wide range of strategic matters. Associates are involved in every aspect of our business and play critical roles on banking teams serving a broad base of clients, including colleges and universities, real estate developers, property managers and non-profit owners of P3 assets nationwide.

What will you do?

• Perform research, analytics, and financial modeling required to complete a transaction
• Produce extensive financial analyses to structure both straight forward and complex bond offerings
• Take increasing role on client coverage teams and in formal and informal presentations
• Prepare projections and cash flow models, debt portfolio analysis and modeling & related financial analyses for potential & actual capital markets transactions, including data conversion, synthesis & analysis.
• Gather, organize and analyze information necessary to prepare proposals, client presentations, rating agency presentations, investor presentations, offering statements and marketing materials.
• Prepare proposals and participate in presentations for prospective clients, describing in detail financing alternatives in originating, structuring and marketing an issue and our ability to perform the underwriting functions in a capable manner.
• Develop an understanding of economic, real estate market and political forces affecting our projects as well as and the bond market through internal and external resources.
• Enhance the Department’s use and knowledge of available information pertaining to the bond market by collecting, organizing and maintaining various research and marketing materials and information resources.
• Coordinate the various activities, internal and external, relating to pricing and settlement of public finance transactions. Works closely with Investment Bankers to secure closings.
• Develops data and analytical processing skills, a proficient knowledge of available computer programs & improves data processing system to enhance departmental efficiency.
• Other such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required, consistent with the purposes for which you are being hired and your background, experience and prior business activity.
• Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business.
• Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
• Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly.

What do you need to succeed?

• BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field with demonstrated record of high achievement.
• 1 to 5 years of related professional Municipal Finance experience.
• Proficiency with standard productivity applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, as well as Municipal Finance specific applications such as DBC Finance and Bloomberg.

• Obtain and maintain Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE), Series 52, 63 and 79 licenses
• Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and workable knowledge of accounting
• Highly motivated, organized, committed, and responsible, with a demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong teaming skills.
• Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
